Before an illustrious career as a graphic designer - during which he art directed Transworld, Beach Culture and Ray Gun Magazine - all David Carson wanted to do was surf. He was ranked No. 8 or 9 in the world, but eventually grew weary of the competitive circuit, at which point he switched his focus to graphic design.
After purchasing a lovely property in Tortola, British Virgin Islands with cash 17 years ago, Carson has continued a steady pace of work and play. He's worked on the art direction for magazines and with countless clients from the comfort of his beach chair. With no formal design training, Carson took the design world by storm, upending conventions and breaking traditional rules he didn’t even know existed.
"All For a Few Good Waves" is a short documentary portrait offering a raw glimpse into the life and work of Carson, an uncompromising genius, who refuses to be anyone but himself.
