Ariel Pink's new video for "I Wanna Be Young," is as weird as it is lo-fi. But we're talking about Pink here, the contemporary king of lo-fi, who has never been shy about how openly odd he does things.
Directed by Argentinean filmmaker Salvador Cresta, "I Wanna Be Young" is a visual shrine to PInk's youth, showing a vignette of pink elements — candles, dried out flowers, old photos, crosses — reminiscent of a makeshift alter, as if memorializing Pink's bygone youth. Like the other videos created for Dedicated to Bobby Jameson tracks, this video is tripped-out, holding our attention with the frenzied, collage-like scenes that surround Ariel while he wails from within an illustrated TV screen throughout the video. It's pretty unexplainable...just watch.
