After 55 years of being hidden in a bread basket, the first ever recorded demo from David Bowie has been found by Konrads drummer David Hadfield and is now being auctioned off. How much would you pay for this?
Hadfield addressed in a press release with Omega Auctions: "So this became the very first recording of David Jones (Bowie) singing 55 years ago! There is no other recording featuring David as lead in existence. Decca initially turned us down, but when they eventually gave us an auction later that year, vocalist Roger Ferris was the lead voice and David sang backing harmonies." The recording is part of a group of memorabilia from Bowie's early career that will include letters, photographs and "promotional sketches."
The extremely rare tape is expected to sell for £10,000 when it goes to auction n September. In addition to the tape, the historical collection illustrating Bowie’s very early career, includes letters, bills, booking forms, photographs and promotional sketches.
