The Death Valley Girls broke through most's musical consciousness with their debut Street Venom, which was a snarled collection of fist-pumping rock. The band – Bonnie Bloomgarden, Laura Kelsey, Jessie Jones and Larry Schemel – classify themselves as “California doom boogie,” which makes total sense when you actually listen to their songs. They've got the same don't-fuck-with-me biker attitude and style that Janis Joplin possessed and have been spreading their heavy proto-metal rock for around LA since their inception in 2013.
Death Valley Girls will release Glow in the Dark, their much anticipated Burger Records debut in June with an album release party at the The Echo. You have to see this band live in order to get their full effect, so check out this video of the Death Valley Girls performing "Summertime" at Burger Mania IV at SXSW. The song is currently unreleased, but "is coming soon" according to Bonnie Wandgarden on Facebook.
