Like most of Desillusion's productions, this isn't your typical surf video. Dramatic, yet rousing music sets the scene in Sebastian Zanella's newest film, "EUNOIA."
EUNOIA is an abstract look at a surf session with Portuguese surfer Pedro Boonman. Shot at Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi Maldive Islands in obscure and strategically cropped angles from underwater and above, EUNOIA sheds light on the largely artistic side of surfing - the swift movements and the stark color contrasts of the water. Zanella's use of a drone, are unlike the typical and overly-wrought drone shots we've become accustomed to seeing in surf videos. For Zanella, the overhead shots stand as a way to show the solidarity of a surfer in his setting, posing more as stationary shots of Boonman in the water, a small speck in a massively sprawling body of water.
