Earl Sweatshirt - Balance

August 18, 2016

The 22-year-old rapping recluse Earl Sweatshirt shares new track "Balance," that features a brief but poignant collaboration with producer Knxwledge. The track which clocks in at just over a minute features an all new Sweatshirt verse that offers some pretty sobering thoughts about heart-to-hearts with his mom and some racial introspection (“I know my skin tone is a cliff / We on the edge and they hoping we slip”).

This is Earl’s first new track since “Pelicula,” a short instrumental number that appeared out of nowhere on Apple Music in early August. While "Balance" is another short one, it does at least feature a new verse from Earl.

Everyone from Run the Jewels, Against Me!, Flying Lotus, Vince Staples, to Rae Sremmurd, Mike-Will Made It, Die Antwoord, Tim Hecker and Ryan Hemsworth are among those who have also contributed free, downloadable tracks to Adult Swim's sixth annual Singles series, which kicked off May 25th and runs every Wednesday until November. Each track features on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block during its premiere week. Th is Earl Sweatshirt joint is the 13th song off of this year’s Adult Swim Singles Program.
