Surfing is starting to follow in skating's footsteps, with independent, rider-owned brands popping up every few months...most recently FORMER, Epokhe, and now Huckleberry Surf Company.
This week Albee Layer and friends entered the myriad of upstart brands alongside Dege O'Connell, with Huckleberry Surf Company, a new hardware brand which flaunts environmentally friendly fins with a bit of Maui Wowie flair—fins out of hemp and mushrooms. It all started back in 2014, when Layer and O'Connell decided to try something different with their first line of fins, and concoct fins made of their exclusive Huckleberry Hemp Tech. They've also got a set of fins that stick mushrooms in the core of the fins. They grow a natural fungus that they ultimately cut the cores of the fin from. Huckleberry is not kidding around in their commitment and pursuit in developing new methods of creating and selling products that don't harm the environment.
The inventive new hardware company dropped a new video to mark the launch of the brand and show off its hefty team of riders including Layer, Kalani David, Kaimana Henry, and more.
