Banks Journal coming in hot this new year with a sick little surf installment of their newest addition to the Banks family, Jason Salisbury. This dude encapsulates the Balinese lifestyle - laid back and loose. In the new edit, and their second release spotlighting Jason, you’ll find a twin fin delight as he weaves and whips his way around some of Bali’s best.
A few years back, Jason began a transformation that would ultimately change his life for the better. At 30 years of age and over 20 years of standing on a board, Jason has found a healthy and imperative process of Vedic meditation. It's a highly effective mental technique from ancient India, basically a life skill to help tap your inner potential.
For Jason meditation is the art of effortlessness, it's about letting go of the need to control everything and allowing things to flow. Physical activity requires effort but it's about finding that balance. "If I’m out there constantly thinking about the next section or the next maneuver my surfing becomes clunky, with the odd highlight, but if I can let go of those expectations and just sit in the moment, my surfing experience becomes so much more exciting and enjoyable," says Jason. "I feel like the unpredictable nature of the ocean and the speed in which things change, forces a more intuitive approach… less mind, more grace."
Jason surfing style is one that exudes his intrinsic connection with the wave and the joy of being on top of a board. It's all about the flow. Watch Jason's seriously stylish flow in the new edit below.
