Damn. Everything Kendrick Lamar puts out is gold. His new video for Damn's "Element," is absolutely no exception either. We can always rely on Kendrick to make music videos that amplify the already poignant messages in his music, but honestly this new one is amongst the best yet.
Like the video for “Humble,” "Element" is a potent brew of sensual, religious, and violent imagery reflecting the complexities of the modern African-American experience. Yet what sets this new video apart from it's most recent predecessor, is the underlying fury growing from beneath the beautifully shot, slow-motion scenes of violence and intimacy.
The video also pays beautiful homage to pioneering photojournalist and filmmaker Gordon Parks— the first black photographer to work for Life and Vogue magazines. The video was directed by Jonas Lindstroem + the little homies. Watch below.
