It wasn't too long ago that we were hailing Wand for their newest psychedelic offering Plum, which was a sunny, melody-heavy album. Yet the LA psych rockers aren't wasting time in following it up, with the announcement of a new 7-song EP called Perfume.
If the emblem of Plum was the stark blue cloud - a condensation, a linking between longing molecules, data hungering for more data, a flotilla of vapor between eye and sky - then Wand's new EP reeks of something more forceful, more seductive, more intoxicating, more insidious. Recorded between tours and fire seasons in Grass Valley, California by Tim Green, Perfume rings in at 30-minutes and was mixed in Woodstock, New York by Daniel James Goodwin.
Wand has given us a taste of what's to come with their new track “The Gift,” which features ornate, meticulous guitar work with underlying prog and psych-rock tones, frontman Cory Hanson’s yearning lead vocals, a grand piano arrangement and a face-melting guitar solo.
