When Matix moved to the Compton neighborhood, it was looking at ways to embrace and simultaneously expose the youth to the things that inspired Matix to build its lifestyle and brand – surfing, skateboarding and art. That thing was the Compton Surf Club. Matix chose to work with Roy W. Roberts, II Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club for the project and recently through a ramp party for the kids in the Compton Surf Club.
The crew got together with its local friends over at Dwindle Distribution and threw a ramp party for the Compton Surf Club at Matix’s headquarters in Compton, California. Matix skateboarders Reemo Pearson, Jared Cleland and Dwindle’s TJ Rogers hook up the Compton Surf Club members with brand new complate skatebaords and even taught them how to drop in (despite some of them not knowning how to skate at all).
