Chad Ubovich used to back Mikal Cronin and plays bass in Ty Segall’s Fuzz, but he gets much wilder in his own group, Meatbodies. The Los Angeles psych-garage rock trio are set to follow up their 2014 self-titled effort with the newly announced ALICE, due out on February 10th.
From what the band has revealed, the new LP is a vaguely outlined concept album that is in their words, “a near fable of fear, sexuality, war, religion, technology, peace, philosophy, hedonism, sociology, evolution, and ecclesiasticism.”
Meatbodies' sound has been described by the band as "heavy pop" and "metal on molly" in the past and those still both ring true with the hard-hitting, and reverb lead single "Creature Feature." Hard-rock riffs and celestial harmonies - an obvious influence from glam-rockers Bolan and Bowie - carry the equally spaced-out track. This small taste of Alice, has us eager for what's to come in February.
