We're constantly blown away by Santa Barbara lensman Morgan Maassen's infinite talent. He's shot some of surfing's most visually appealing surfers, like Maassen's longtime muse Stephanie Gilmore. We've gotten everything from unbelievable still photography to short surf edits from Maasen's travels all over the world, but his newest release "Jungle," is the first long-form film he's created.
"Jungle" is a dense offering of imagery and narrative from four years on the road with Gilmore, Noa Deane, Machado, Dane Reynolds, and the like. In what Maassen says was "an unintentional surf film... sort of," we get just under twenty-minutes of clean and astounding cinematography in and out of the ocean. We don't think anyone shoots underwater quite as well as Maassen does.
