Night Moves have sunk their musical claws into us. Honestly before their release of Pennied Days earlier this year, we didn't even know who they were, even though they had already released a stellar album of psychedelic-leaning country-tinged tracks. Now, we can't help but tap our heels to every hook, and desperately try to sing along to every chorus.
Night Moves incorporate energetic keys to complement lead singer John Pelant’s soulful pop vocals. The Minneapolis natives have a full sound, one that evokes your attention. “Carl Sagan,” Night Moves’ single off of Pennied Days, is the perfect representation of the band’s sophomore album and is a brilliantly crafted pop hit. Pelant’s voice is commanding as he sings in his most high-pitched voice, “Feels right cause it seems right / And it feels right cause it is right / How long … You gonna call my name? / How long you gonna feel this way?”
Directed by Brook Linder, the video for "Carl Sagan" feels like a clip from the tense third act of a road movie, with two silent traveling partners making their way through the California desert, and providing a nice contrast with the song’s airy mix.
