Skateboarding, although regarded as a sport where individuality prevails, continues to harbor a sexist environment where women who skate are almost always disregarded. Yet Nora Vasconcellos' breakthrough into the skate world undoubtedly marks a step in the right direction. Just like women before her, Nora has earned the respect of her peers both on and off the board, carving out a place for women in skateboarding and for her on both the Welcome Skateboards team and the Adidas global skateboarding team.
