Nora: The Birth of a Skate Icon

January 8, 2018

There's no doubt that we still live in a day and age where the odds are stacked against women in almost every industry. Skateboarding, although regarded as a sport where individuality prevails, continues to harbor a sexist environment where women who skate are almost always disregarded. Yet Nora Vasconcellos' breakthrough into the skate world undoubtedly marks a step in the right direction. Just like women before her, Nora has earned the respect of her peers both on and off the board, carving out a place for women in skateboarding and for her on both the Welcome Skateboards team and the Adidas global skateboarding team.

In this short documentary, we trace the journey of a skate icon, as Nora shares the experiences that have shaped her life.
