The genre-hopping group Oxymorrons teeters between aternative and hip-hop and has spent years playing and touring with other groups including Bruno Mars, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna, and Common, but the group shouldn’t be defined by those it has shared the stage with.
The group’s new single, “Hello Me”, which comes as the first single on their Complex But Basic EP coming later this year, doesn’t fit neatly into one genre. The song’s synths drift between psych and electronica, while its pulsating beat immediately becomes one that plays on and on in your head.
“‘Hello Me’ is about losing a part of you,” co-founder Deee explains. “That part of you could be a person lost in death or lack of connection. The loss can even be an activity or an object. But you long for the reconnection.”
