This isn't the first time that Samiyam and Earl Sweatshirt have teamed up to create a sonic gem. In fact, Earl released "Quest/Power" early last year, a track whose fragmented soul loop was produced by Samiyam & Budgie.
Now Earl guests on the West Coast beatmaker's track "Mirrors". In March we saw the release of Animals Have Feelings, the latest full-length from Samiyam, and now he’s dropped an unsettlingly trippy video for the hazy track.
The brief clip mostly features Earl’s face rapping in close-up, but the animation style (courtesy of director Ruff Mercy) turns each frame into an LSD-tinged fever dream. This feeling is only heightened by lyrics addressing time spent in rehab and the occasional moment of the rapper’s head morphing into a cat.
While "Mirrors" was originally supposed to appear on Earl's album from last year I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, but was delayed and eventually cut due to issues clearing samples.
