Los Angeles-based surf-rock group Santoros have been a mainstay to the LA lo-fi rock scene for years. Their new music video for the single “Girl,” which Amadeus Magazine premiered late last week enlists the help of well-known photographer and the visionary behind High Creatives, Jacquie Ray, and Psychedelia Entertainment‘s Esteban Gudino. The slightly risque new video follows the story of a woman who is seduced by a leather-clad temptress, and is inevitably drowned by her envious and mistrustful husband.
Ray, who not only wrote, but co-directed the video with Gudino, was approached by Santoros to put her dark and sexy spin on the surfy-tune. In an interview with Amadeus, Ray explains the process of shooting and working on her very first music video.
“It was awesome to be brought into this project by Carlos from Santoros,” says Ray. “They trusted me to put a video together based on my style and the type of imagery I produce; it was a push to further develop what I work on. It’s a trippy feeling to see the stills I had envisioned in my head, turn into video footage. Even thought the lyrics and the story to this video are a little dark, it’s sexy too and I like weird, twisted and sexy.”
