https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhuTokeGWX0 The New York-based trio, RATKING, has spent the better part of the last five years slowly perfecting its own brand of messy, noise-ladden rap music. They've drawn creative comparisons to NYC OG hip-hoppers like Wu-Tang and Beastie Boys, and with their surprise EP 700 Fill that was released in the Spring for free via BitTorrent, RATKING continues to evoke genuine underground stylings.
After the release of their debut album, "So It Goes," Wiki, the group's lead MC explained their sonic vision in an interview with FADER stating, “We wanted it to be like Suicide meets Wu, or like noise and no wave meets, like, Cam’ron. We wanted it to be something fucked up and new that sounded like what our lives were like. Half-noise, half-hip-hop.”
RATKING circle back to 700 Fill with a video in support of one of the tracks featured on the project, "Arnold Palmer." The track may not have originally brought images of lemonade stands to mind, however RATKING pay homage to the song's namesake in their new video edit for the song. With lemonade and iced tea flowing freely and a makeshift, hand-painted stand supporting them, RATKING salute the summer with their latest.
