For the past half-decade Seth Bogart has been making blown-out, sometimes kitschy garage rock under his moniker, Hunx (usually aided by 'His Punx'), but early next year he’ll make his debut under his own name, with help from quite a few different friends including Tavi Gevinson, Cherry Glazerr, and Chela.
Today, the hairdresser turned musician (originally getting his start in queer electro band Gravy Train!!!) shared the first of those guest-featured tracks, a single called “Eating Makeup” featuring punk queen Kathleen Hanna of the Julie Ruin and Bikini Kill on vocals. The track is a synth-punk ode to eating beauty products. It's a fun and upbeat collaboration, with a driving youthful falsetto from Hanna, and simple beat and melody not too far off from Bogart's usual pop demeanor.
The track is produced by Cole MGN (Ariel Pink, Julia Holter, Dåm-Funk). As for the rest of the record, it's due out in early 2016 through Burger Records. Listen to the new single below.
