It's been five years and five hand surgeries, but The Kills are finally ready to release their fifth album, Ash & Ice.
Singer Alison Mosshart has stayed busy lending her snarling voice and lyrical prowess to the Dead Weather, while guitarist, and The Kills' other half, Jamie Hince has had to relearn to play guitar after going through five hand surgeries. However now they’re coming back with a brand-new album, and its lead single, "Doing It To Death".
The track shows that the duo hasn't lost the swagger and grittiness that charged the band's vibrant range of bluesy tunes. The track's video—directed by Wendy Morgan—features a stylized procession of headless and armless patrons weaving through a cemetery. Decked in black, Mosshart and Hince sit lounging on top of a hearse. Mosshart later appears singing from a church pulpit, while smoking a cigarette apathetically. “Doing It To Death” doesn’t skip a beat from band’s previous catalog of grit-grinding musical bliss.
