The Lemon Twigs have shared the video for “I Wanna Prove to You,” their ode to early rock n’ roll ballads from last year’s Do Hollywood. The video was directed by Nick Roney who took The Twigs’ D’Addario brothers to his grandparents’ home in Utah as they sought to capture "the concept of love". As it turns out, the brothers get along a little too well with his grandparents and the rest is straight humor. Roney told Stereogum:
The song is about proving your love which is something I can’t really fathom because of how generally self-centered I am. But I figured my grandparents knew something about it because they had been married for 50-years, so their relationship seemed to make an appropriate backdrop for the video. Overall the experience was heartbreaking for me and I never would have imagined that things would have gone south as they did.
The Long Island brothers Brian and Michael put out Do Hollywood last October; their debut album under the name the Lemon Twigs. We’ve already seen their video for lead single “These Words,” and it seems the goal wit the stunning album seems to be to write timeless pop songs, but also to not let a good tangent go to waste.
