Dane Barker has been in Los Angeles for around 2 years now. He originally moved down from Tacoma, Washington at 17, after staying with his friend who took him out to 10 spots a day for a week straight. He came back the next spring and the same thing, just two weeks straight, skating every day. He realized that LA was obviously better then staying in Seattle and skating the skatepark every day.
Barker, who is part of the Doomsayers Club, dropped his first ever part with Lotties skate shop and Chat earlier this summer, and it really shows off this dude's punk-informed style. Barker's creativity goes beyond his time spent skateboarding; whether he's buying records at Amoeba or Vacation on Sunset Boulevard, or cruising around the city on his bike looking at graffiti, all of his interests are artistically inclined.
When he first moved here, Barker tried to apply to art school and got rejected, yet the school said he could go to their science and math school and take a class or two at the art school. So he went to the science and math school for 2 years and got all his credits up there, transferred to the art school for a year and then graduated early. Needless to say, Barker is talented in more way than one.
