The brainchild of Cecelia Della Peruti, Los Angeles-based Gothic Tropic have released the accompanying music video for their track “Stronger.” The song is at once upbeat and playful, but the thumping bass line positioned front and center gives it just the right amount of edge, and reminds us why we were initially drawn in by the band's layering of dynamic sounds with unheard compositions.
The video for "Stronger" riffs on this balancing act by juxtaposing shots of the band, led by Della Pureti, casually jamming out in an empty room, with more exciting footage of band members and some friends taking motorcycles out for a spin around LA. "Stronger," is a fawn-like leap away from where Gothic Tropic was last year.
While the music inspires escapism, it's actually a feminine anthem of bold self-assertion. Gothic Tropic keeps a playful and punchy vibe, but brings audiences into a new era of female rock nobility, nodding to legendary women like Debbie Harry and Chrissie Hynde. Thanks largely to Della Peruti's guitar-wielding prowess Gothic Tropic's sound has been propelled to an even more declarative level, assuring us that Della Peruti and her long-haired band aren't going anywhere.
Check out the video below, and be sure to catch Gothic Tropic at their Los Angeles show on 7/29.
