Coming off Ought's standout track from 2015 “Beautiful Blue Sky” off Sun Coming Down, the Montreal outfit's frontman Tim Darcy is looking to find some success of his own with his upcoming debut solo album, Saturday Night.
Due out February 17th via Jagjaguwar, the 10-track effort has Darcy swapping out some of the angular riffs of Ought’s catalog for indie rock a la Americana and folk. An endeavor all his own, a press release describes the upcoming album as the following:
“A personal meditation reveals itself across these songs as you feel a poetic, thoughtful person attempting to reconcile a schism, one that grows more expansive as Saturday Night flows along. It is a journey, but it’s a really fun, gratifying one; like a poem where you’re not supposed to know exactly how to feel at that last line and you’re left just bursting with a wonderful emptiness.”
Darcy has already previewed Saturday Night with opening track “Tall Glass of Water”, which is a confident and punchy number that evokes The Strokes and today has shared the video for the single. The video features Darcy singing to the camera while surrounded by similarly-dressed men attempting to mimic his movements. Watch the new video below.
