Spanish artist and die-hard music lover, Ricardo Cavolo, has been quite busy this year. Besides creating the cover artwork and all accompanying visual media for Kaytranada's new album, designing a one of a kind jacket for Swizz Beatz, and illustrated decks for Baker Boys, he's also released a graphic novel, 101 Artists to Listen to Before You Die.
The book reads like Cavolo's personal journey through music history, as he painstakingly picked his 101 essential music icons. From Bach to Radiohead, to Amy Winehouse, Ty Segall, Kanye, Beastie Boys and Daft Punk, Cavolo divulges frank reflections and personal anecdotes about the musical artists that have played an integral role in his life.
Inside, the pages burst with color and vivid portraits done in Cavolo's signature style. He dedicates two pages to each artist; on one page Cavolo hand writes diary-like thoughts on why he admires them, and on the adjoining page lies a beautifully illustrated portrait.
