We're accustomed to getting some pretty original music videos from Bay Area band, Shannon & The Clams, and their new music video for “Backstreets,” the third single from their forthcoming album Onion, is no exception.
"Backstreets" is a perfect example of the band's ability to blend two classic rock styles – this time glam and surf – into an unforgettable pop song. Guitarist Cody Blanchard takes over lead vocals for this number with the first verse pulled straight from the 50s pop song-book: the metaphor of a "runaway" looking for their version of home. The video shows a range of people sitting directly in front of the camera as their appearance — hair, facial expressions, makeup, etc. — change in a stop motion style.
