Following the release of two EPs last year, Willie J Healey is back with a new track, “Pipedreams,” and its accompanying music video. Although Healey originally hails from England, the song has a distinctly West Coast vibes. The guitar line is reminiscent of Mac Demarco’s lackadaisical strumming style, and the lyrics riff on that all-too-familiar feeling of laziness and “stuck”-ness that is at times inevitable.
Going along with the song’s beachy feel, the music video takes place in and around Venice, Calif. The video features legendary skateboarder Neal Unger A.K.A. “The Dude” going about an average day in his life. This is cut with shots of Healey singing in an armchair and footage of Los Anegeles itself.
“Pipedreams” is Healey’s first release with National Anthem/Columbia Records. The British artist is set to play a show in his native Oxford on July 20.
