Courtney Barnett - Elevator Operator

July 6, 2016

Even though Courtney Barnett's first proper studio album Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit, came out well over a year ago, all eleven tracks are still on pretty frequent rotation here at the Havoc office. There's something about Barnett's incisive lyrics and casualness that has one or two of her tracks on every playlist we ever make.

Now, Courtney Barnett is back to remind us of the album's greatness with a funny music video for one of the album standouts “Elevator Operator”. Barnett casts herself as a frazzled elevator operator bussing the likes of Jeff Tweedy, Paul Kelly, and members of Ouch My Face, The Drones, Ratpiss, and many more up and down an office building. The video also features members of Sleater Kinney as tourists, and finishes with Barnett and her band jamming out on the building’s roof.

Barnett has two more shows lined up for 2016: a set at Austin’s Sound Fest on November 4th and a show in Denver on November 8th. Watch the new video below.
